Preserving History
On the corner of 8th&Juliana in Downtown Parkersburg, West Virginia, sits a house built in 1888 by S.L.Gould, a prominent papermill owner in Parkersburg during the 19th century. Over the course of its lifetime, it has served as a home, a wine shop, a law office, and even the Chamber of Commerce. Our goal is to maintain and prepare the building for local citizens, historians, and visitors to enjoy for years to come.
Promoting Collaboration
The Mid-Ohio Valley’s largest (and growing!) WVU medical center - Camden Clark, is within view and short walking distance from 8th&Juliana. The Parkersburg Catholic school is in session for most of the year. Restaurants are thriving and businesses are constantly popping up in Downtown Parkersburg. It is vital that the Maximum Potential Project aligns with the goals of surrounding businesses in PKB.
Innovating Safety Measures
Let’s face it, 8th&Juliana is not a pedestrian friendly corner - yet! There are 3 lane roads on either side of the property. There are many citizens that utilize the sidewalk and crosswalk on a regular basis early in the mornings, during rush hour, and at night. It doesn’t have best reputation among cars either, with vehicle accidents that happen multiple times a year at the traffic light. We want to minimize traffic hazards. Our goal is to provide safer routes, more lighting, and barriers to keep pedestrians safe.
